Tell Your Story

Hey everyone, Courtney here, and I’m up with my project for the #Tellyourstorychallenge over on the Paper Issues Friends and Fans group.

This is a new challenge this month, and it’s all about telling your story.

For this layout I used Doodlebug Dragon Tales, as well as the Blast Off! Free cut file.

Since this challenge is all about getting your story down, I decided to go with my own handwriting directly on the page.

I played around with typing it, but I really think my kids will enjoy seeing my handwriting later in life.

I used my Tim Holtz ruler and penciled in some lines, then when I was finished journaling I earesd them. I did a mock up of what I wanted to say so I knew how much space I needed.

My handwriting isn’t the best, but I slowed down and really thought about what I was putting on the paper. I love how the black ink looks with the overall color scheme.

I also decided to do some hand stitching to go along with the paper piecing for the cut file. I used the original cut file as inspiration on where to put my stitching.
Of course,  I had to go back in and add all of my favorites, enamel dots, glitter washi, word stickers, and tabs.

This layout was pretty different for me, I really reached out of my comfort zone for a lot of it, but it’s probably one of my favorites that I’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you found some inspiration, and I cannot wait to see what you create!

Dont forget if you stop by the Paper Issues store and use the code Courtney to save 20% on your purchase.

You Are Loved- Simple Stories

YOU ARE LOVED! Hey y’all! Courtney here and today I am sharing the layout I created using the So Happy Together collection. This is such a beautiful collection and I wanted to put every single piece in the collection on my layout. I decided to go with a free cut file from Paper Issues so I could use a ton of patterned papers. For backing my cut files I used a variety of pattern papers from the 6x8 paper pad. I love having the smaller prints to use with cut files. I cut my actual cut file on the Happy Heart paper, I am obsessed with anything polka dot and black and white. I cut about an inch ½ inch on each side so I could layer the beautiful Our Story paper behind it. After I filed my cut file, I began laying a ton of ephemera, chipboard and stickers. There is a ton of great images and tiny word phrases. I layered a 4x4 photo that I trimmed down to fit onto the gingham 4x4 card and then I layered it onto the My Family paper. Then I finished my cluster with a w...

You and Me- Simple Stories

YOU & ME! Hey y’all! Courtney here again and today I am sharing a layout that I created using Autumn Splendor collection. This collection reminds me of my child hood. We always had these amazing vintage calendars in our house and every year when they were done my mom would cut them up to use as ephemera or decoupage the cutouts on something artistic. For this layout, I used  a cut file from Paper Issues called You and Me and cut it out in black to make it pop off the page. Then I backed the cut file in Seasons if Change, the B side of the 4x4 elements, Grateful Hearts, Autumn Leaves, and the b side of the 2x2 elements. I used the Elm/Cream Ledger paper from the SN@P Basics as my background. I matted my photos on a piece of vellum and then on the Grateful Hearts paper. I layered them on either side of the cut file. I created three clusters with another cut file from Paper Issues called Collecting Leaves that I cut out of the Turquoise Dots paper. I then layer...
