Swanky Swatches

Hey all, Courtney here, today I am sharing my layout for the #swankyswatches challenge.
Y'all, this layout was so fun to create! Sometimes I overthink everything and try to hard to make things perfect. I keep reminding myself that its not about perfection, and its about the memories. For this layout I knew that I wanted to use the August Kit , and my watercolors to get the colors that I loved from the swatches.  I took inspiration from the brush and brush strokes also.

Here is a look at what I created

I used the white sheet of cardstock from American Crafts that Cassie had included in the August Kit as the base of my layout. I used a wider bristle paint brush to give it a more brushed look, and I mixed my own colors to come up with this combo. I think they turned out pretty close to the swatches. After I had my ground work down I started pulling embellishments from the kit. I used the cut a apart sheet because it was perfect, I doodled the little flowers on the one watercolor cut a part. I felt like I needed a little more design with it. I used a few pieces from the Vicki Boutin ephemera, the feather was from a past swag bag and it is Vicki Boutin as well. The gold stars have been on my craft desk since my last baby shower... that was almost three years ago. I have tried adding them to so many projects, and have failed. I think they fit perfectly with this layout. There were only a few other items that didnt come from the kit. A few enamel dots, the wooden pieces are from the Shimelle mixed embellishment pack, and the pink and purple sequins. Its pretty crazy how you can get so many different looks from one kit!

Hopefully you feel inspired by our wonderful design team, and I cant wait to see what you create! Don't forget to tag @paperissues on insta and add your photo to the facebook group.

You Are Loved- Simple Stories

YOU ARE LOVED! Hey y’all! Courtney here and today I am sharing the layout I created using the So Happy Together collection. This is such a beautiful collection and I wanted to put every single piece in the collection on my layout. I decided to go with a free cut file from Paper Issues so I could use a ton of patterned papers. For backing my cut files I used a variety of pattern papers from the 6x8 paper pad. I love having the smaller prints to use with cut files. I cut my actual cut file on the Happy Heart paper, I am obsessed with anything polka dot and black and white. I cut about an inch ½ inch on each side so I could layer the beautiful Our Story paper behind it. After I filed my cut file, I began laying a ton of ephemera, chipboard and stickers. There is a ton of great images and tiny word phrases. I layered a 4x4 photo that I trimmed down to fit onto the gingham 4x4 card and then I layered it onto the My Family paper. Then I finished my cluster with a w...

You and Me- Simple Stories

YOU & ME! Hey y’all! Courtney here again and today I am sharing a layout that I created using Autumn Splendor collection. This collection reminds me of my child hood. We always had these amazing vintage calendars in our house and every year when they were done my mom would cut them up to use as ephemera or decoupage the cutouts on something artistic. For this layout, I used  a cut file from Paper Issues called You and Me and cut it out in black to make it pop off the page. Then I backed the cut file in Seasons if Change, the B side of the 4x4 elements, Grateful Hearts, Autumn Leaves, and the b side of the 2x2 elements. I used the Elm/Cream Ledger paper from the SN@P Basics as my background. I matted my photos on a piece of vellum and then on the Grateful Hearts paper. I layered them on either side of the cut file. I created three clusters with another cut file from Paper Issues called Collecting Leaves that I cut out of the Turquoise Dots paper. I then layer...
